Stone numbers

Paul has been busy numbering all our stones. 

Peter J Evans | Broken Telephone

We were asked to print the 12" record sleeves for Peter J Evans' piece Broken Telephone commissioned by BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art.

The fronts (500 for each of the four sleeves) were printed in a blend roll from photopolymer relief plates on an etching press. While the backs were printed on an Adana 5x8 letterpress.

Takach Press | Arrival

The press arrived a little later than suggested. Thankfully the fork lift driver was able to hang on for us.

Takach Press | Workshop preparation

With the impending arrival of the new press the workshop has to be ready to allow access for the frame. Some of the benches and partiation walls needed to be moved, but most of all the door needed to come off. Luckily we were able to gain the extra 3.5 inches required.

While visiting Albuquerque in September, we stopped by Takach Press Corp. and ordered a new press. It is the smallest floor model that they manufacture and should allow us to print up to approx 24 x 36 inches. Below are a couple of photos Takach sent us of our press being crated prior to shipping.

Paul Hughes | Open Studios

The last weekend of November is traditionally the Ouseburn Open Studios. Paul Hughes agreed to make a couple of wee works for to have on the press to demonstrate the lithography process.
